After a long winter, Utah and Idaho are starting to enjoy warm weather. This change in season means it’s time to break out the dirt bikes.
With spring 2023 upon us, it’s important to look at what gear suits you best. Today, we’ll be looking over Fox's 180, Ranger Air and 360 lines.
Fox 180 Gear
Fox designed the 180 line to perform well in multiple environments. Its tough fabric still offers phenomenal flexibility. Using TruMotion zonal all-way stretch panels in the riding pants, 180 gear is easy to move around in. As for the jersey, Fox uses a moisture-wicking material to pull sweat away from the rider's body.
Set at a reasonable price for beginners and weekend warriors, the 180 jersey is priced between $40-50. Fox sells their 180 riding pants typically between $125-150.
Riders can also buy 180 gloves, which feature a single-layer padded palm and touch screen compatibility. They're typically priced around $30.
While it won't be as comfortable as Fox 360 gear in the desert or Fox Legion gear in the mountains, it holds up well in different environments.
Fox Ranger Air
Designed for mountain riding, Fox's Ranger Air line is ready to tackle rugged terrain.
While the jersey is made tougher than the 180 and 360 jerseys, it still keeps cool. Using a TruDri moisture-wicking fabric, the Ranger Air jersey has anti-bacterial properties and vented mesh panels to offer optimal breathability.
While other riding pants vent through the back, the Ranger Air pants allow riders to control air flow with a mesh area on the thigh that's covered by a zipper. The pants also feature two zipper-protected pockets.
Currently, there are no Ranger Air gloves on the market. That said, we recommend pairing the gear with Fox's Legion or Bomber gloves. Both use a tough, durable fabric with knuckle protection.
Riders looking to buy a full set can expect to pay between $300-315 before tax. The jersey typically costs $70, with the pants around $180 and the gloves between $40-50.
Fox 360 Gear
Gear that's made for the desert and trails, Fox's 360 line is known for being light and breathable. While it weighs less than 180 gear, 360 gear doesn't lose its toughness.
Fox reinforced some key wear areas with this line to improve protection. 360 gear is also designed to be tear resistant.
While 180 riding pants are well ventilation, the 360 line's pants increase airflow. Fox also gave the 360 pants double-layer knee pads to improve impact resistance.
Looking at price, 360 jerseys typically cost $65 while pants are priced around $200.
As for hand protection, Fox made their 360 gloves lightweight, protective and breathable. The gloves offer scaled top-of-the-hand coverage. Featuring a single-layer perforated palm and silicone-printed fingertips that improve lever grip, they cost around $45.
Compared to the 180 line, 360 gear is designed for intense riders and professionals.
